Obviously, Microsoft isn't listening to any of this, or just doesn't care what their users want. This is such an obvious "feature" needing an on/off toggle.
Gee, people have only been asking to disable "recent files" and "recommended" for years.
Obviously MS doesn't care what people want; their feature developers are apparently just cubicle creatures that never worked in the real world. Witness the "focused inbox" default view in Outlook online. Yeah, they know which email I should look at.
Oh, while they're at it, they might consider not wasting so much space in their user interfaces. Small, compact, fast, interfaces are what is needed in the business world.
