I tried the Quarantine Admin role but it didn't work. Seems there are higher level permissions still needed on the EAC side (hygiene and org admin). If anyone has had success using the Quarantie admin role by itself to allow a regular user to view and release quarantined emails for a shared mailbox, please let me know. For us, when they filter by 'recipient address' to the shared mailbox, no results are found. But, it works for me as admin.

I was hopeful after reading a post on another forum that mentioned the newer Quarantine admin role in the Security and Admin Center. Unfortunately, it didn't work by itself and I read that the user also needs Hygiene and Org admins roles in Exchage Admin Center. That's not a viable option for us so we are back to square one. Very disappointing Microsoft!

This is needed - it's becoming problematic as we have a shared mailbox that receives time sensitive information and emails are continuously getting stuck in the filter. There also should be an option to send a daily summary or immediate notification if an email is quarantined configurable per mailbox not one setting for the entire organization.

The first comment works perfect - much better than deleting the external user! Thank you for posting this. (Set-MailUser -Identity <Identityofmailuser> -EmailAddresses $Null)
