I agree that I've seen this cause confusion with end users, as they tend to mistake a Team for a Distribution List. Even a differentiating icon next to the Display Name would be helpful, along with some sorting option from the GAL.

Supposedly the devs were working on this issue around the time you shared the idea. I haven't seen anything else mentioned, nor does it exist on the roadmap. This is a very much needed feature, seeing as an end user can overwrite an automatically applied Retention Label.

I have noticed that this functionality is also now missing for Custom Roles we have created for those with access in our Security and Compliance Center. I believe this was previously associated with "View-Only Recipients" but this does not appear to be the case anymore.

I cannot stress this enough. Not only today, did I have to re-create the RoomList via Powershell, which I wasn't entirely upset about -- It was the fact that I could not see it in either the 365 Admin Center OR Exchange Admin Center. It was no where to be found from a management perspective, which led me to having to use PowerShell to re-populate the list membership.

In addition, on my copy of Office Pro Plus provided by my tenant, the Room Finder button/interface does not appear until I actually go into Scheduler Assistant, and add the list on the side as an attendee. I checked for any supposed Addins being disabled, but this did not appear to be the case for my version of Office Pro Plus.
