Thanks for your feedback. We are currently thinking about this. Can you please let us know what scenarios your organization uses shared mailboxes for and what options do you use. This will help us.Nick Barker commented
Groups are an absolute mess. I think everyone who is or has managed a 365 Hybrid environment has nightmares about groups.
*** VIP Suggestion ***
Create a tool (.net or PowerShell) that:
= asks for your on-prem (Admin) creds and your Global Admin account for you Cloud Tenant
= collects information on all on prem groups and other non-usermailbox Exchange Objects
= gathers info about your EXO Tenant and your Hybrid config
= Does some number crunching (animated gears turning....)
= finally it spits out a report with your mail enabled security groups, Distribution groups, room/resource mailboxes, ect.. as well as any errors.
= Finaly the tool should provide a recommended migration path plan or suggestions
= R2 of the tool should have a nice gold button at the bottom of the report with a sparkeling unicorn in the middle with bold test that says, "Press here if you want us to preform the recommended operations for you"
Finally, we all bow down to the Supreme developers and Engineers at Microsoft who put this bad boy together!!!
Please can we get something like that!

Please Get this working, Another issue that should go right along with it is to resolve whatever issue is causing Outlook to lock up for 60 seconds + when you manually add a Shared Mailbox to Outlook. There also seems to be an issue after adding the shared mailbox, that you cannot open any of the other shared folders or boxes you already had mapped to your Inbox until you either remove the shared mailbox, or implement the registry fix from this KB (just changing the setting in Outlook 2016 by itself does not work)Nick Barker supported this idea ·
