+1 for the Teams Workaround though if your org isn't using Teams, this is a bit of a pain.

This is a huge one especially for regulated organizations that need to be very careful on who has access to what. Exchange admin shouldn't be required for managing O365 Groups for example.

Azure Active Directory Conditional Access has functionality for “Countries/Regions” – see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/conditional-access/location-condition

That said, the most effective protection you can have against password spray attacks is to enable MFA and disable basic authentication. If you cannot do this for your entire organization, then blocking user access to legacy protocols like POP, EWS, IMAP and SMTP is another step you can take. Exchange Online Client Access Rules can help you to further customize (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/clients-and-mobile-in-exchange-online/client-access-rules/client-access-rules). For additional recommendations, please see Office 365 Secure Score.

That said, please know that we are listening to feedback and working on solutions to help make Office 365 users more secure. Thank you for the feedback.

This should be possible via a conditional access rule via Azure AD no?

(Update from Office engineering) Thank you for voting, we appreciate your feedback. User Voice is an important input we are considering when establishing the product road map. In general, when providing feedback specific for Excel Online, I would recommend using Excel Online UserVoice, where you’ll find the specific feature granularity.

I would like to use the opportunity to provide update on progress:

What is already available in production?
    • Find dialog remain open when find item for find next.
    • replace dialog
    • Ability to Freeze Panes

Please give it a try, we are looking forward to your feedback.

What is high on our backlog – Impacted by User Voice voting – Keep voting

    • Custom Sort
    • Enable reference to a cell in another sheet by click (In Vlookup as well)
    • Enhanced Print
    • Pivot table

Webapps allow for a consistent customer experience without having to deploy or manage desktop apps. You get the same experience regardless of native OS platform.
