@Bart Hoofd, thanks for your reply. I agree that it increases the licensing costs and this feature should definitely be in Office 365. However, some customers might not want to wait until the feature is live in Office 365. I've seen many customers & IT providers who are building their 'own portal' on which they spent a lot of development and maintenance costs. This request is open since 2015, so it might be good to evaluate if it is worth the wait or to look at alternatives which complement Office 365, like Workspace 365.

This is possible with Workspace 365 by New Day at Work. It is a digital workspace which uses the power of Office 365 to enable single sign-on to both web- and Windows applications (remote desktop). Next to this, it allows you to make (live) tiles available on someones dashboard depending on their (group) permissions.

I recommend looking at Workspace 365. We created a workspace on top of Office 365 which gives you the flexibility to show/hide app (or app groups) based on their roles.

Thanks for sharing your feedback about the recently used documents. We are working on making this feature better in our future releases.

You can do this using Workspace 365. In our digital workspace which is built on top of Office 365 we allow people to show/hide app groups. This way you can hide your sensitive data like recent documents, power bi tiles and much more. Have a look to see how we strengthen Office 365: https://www.workspace365.net

Thanks for sharing this with us. The team is looking at how to improve the O365 homepage. These are helpful details. Others should please comment with specifics as well if they have ideas on customization improvements. – Jay Waltmunson (O365 Program Manager)

We do this using Workspace 365. You can easily set up a home page with (live) tiles and all your applications. To do this, we integrated Office 365 and Azure. Have a look at Workspace 365, I'm sure this will help you reach your goal while using Office 365: www.workspace365.com
