To avoid having to try to install the various modules and then be told that you don't have a prerequisite installed, powershell web client would get around all this. I'll still use real powershell for my on-prem stuff, but to be able to dial in and run a command rather than find a module to install or try to remember which server or workstation has everything installed, that would be great.

I've actually just seen that there's now a switch for this so this request is actually done.

There's a Powershell setting for this on the shared mailbox, I agree it makes sense and should really be the default, but you can set it. As we user scripts to create all our shared mailboxes we include this setting at creation time for all mailboxes, but it would be useful to have it available in Admin.

Disabling the welcome mail is possible with an extra parameter in the Set-UnifiedGroup cmdlet in Exchange PowerShell: -UnifiedGroupWelcomeMessageEnabled:$false. See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/exchange/users-and-groups/set-unifiedgroup

Use this as a part of a custom group creation flow if you would like to restrict and/or customize the welcome mail for many groups across your tenant.

Thanks for sharing this with us. The team is looking at how to improve the O365 homepage. These are helpful details. Others should please comment with specifics as well if they have ideas on customization improvements. – Jay Waltmunson (O365 Program Manager)

Thanks to everyone for your feedback and votes on this item. We’re working through a couple of options and hope to have more information shortly. It’s a very difficult problem to solve since group membership is consumed across many different aspects of Microsoft 365. Thanks for your patience and keep the feedback coming!
