The functionality to make it possible to change the name of an O365 tenant, especially with Sharepoint Online in mind, is being planned. There is no ETA at this time though.

The ability to change tenant name would be extremely useful when companies merge and retain one of their tenants.
Microsoft has provide the process for converting / upgrading a distribution list to an Office 365 group. Please provide the ability to convert / upgrade a shared mailbox to an Office 365 group.
