Just seen that this is better in Office Pro Plus Version 1711 that's been released to the Monthly Channel on 9th Jan 2018. When I 'save as' and choose 'Sites' I can see all my SharePoint sites that I'm following as well as my frequent list. This is significantly better then it was although I'd still prefer to see it specifically highlight Groups as this is the concept users have of where their collaborative files are.

Not being able to see Group document libraries from within MS Office is causing adoption issues with the teams within my organisation. They expect to be able to create a document in Word and save it directly to a Group they're part of without having to perform any initial setup - e.g. syncing, pasting site address etc. Please make this easier for the average end user.

The lack of this functionality has caused some real issues in our organisation. A member of staff was working on an Excel file shared within their OneDrive space and Synced locally using the OneDrive Sync client. However, the ability to Check out the file for exclusive editing was not available within Excel. We had to cancel the local Sync so that they could open the file directly from the server in order for the 'Manage Workbook->Check Out' option to appear.

Please add this functionality to the OneDrive sync client and Office Pro Plus so that staff can collaborate consistently without having to stop using the Sync client.

I'm shocked that this is not currently an option and that more people aren't complaining about it! Followed sites are listed in One Drive online, why are these not available directly within the Office clients under Open->Sites... and Save->Sites... ? This is severally hampering user adoption of Office 365 Groups and SharePoint teams sites within my organisation.
