Please implement this, even if it is a tenant setting so we can redirect people to a single list of Site Owners. Staff keep approaching IT for access requests and we don't want to make our Site Owners Site Collection Admins as we are a regulated industry.

Totally agree with this suggestion. We already have highly-organised Team Sites in SharePoint for our Departments that need to confirm to our governance, so forcing more SharePoint Sites to be created along with Office 365 Groups for us is a barrier to entry and we cannot adopt Groups.

In our case, we're a highly regulated business, so we would be more than happy for people to be able to use the benefits of a shared calendar and mailbox in Outlook, possibly with Tasks being shared in the Planner since the Tasks aggregation Web Parts were removed from My Sites, thanks MS! We already have structured team sites and libraries in SharePoint, so we would like to prevent the Shared Documents and Notebook from being created.

Could this be implemented with some checkboxes but with dependencies enforced so you obviously couldn't have a Notebook or Document Library without the SharePoint Site as these would need to be hosted there?

We’ve recently shipped the ability to change the SharePoint Site URL associated with a Microsoft 365 Group (formerly Office 365 Group). https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=&searchterms=56205. This can be done via the SharePoint Admin Center. The site URL can be changed on a per-site basis, but currently we don’t have plans to allow admins to change the global default from “/sites” to something different.

I agree, either place them into a /groups/ managed path or a different URL entirely and make these separate from the rest of SharePoint's Sites
