This thread keeps popping up. You should combine the threads so you can tally the votes properly. Most people (including me) want to be able to control their own initials, and the related topic seems to be controlling the color of the box in which the initials get displayed.

I think part of the problem is that Microsoft doesn't seem to understand the question. I've seen this question posted to multiple boards with MS support consistently responding with a multitude of questions that illustrate their lack of understanding of the issue.

Here are the 3 related issues:
    1. Organizations/Admins want to control the default color and initials of the little box that is displayed next to a user if he/she has not uploaded a photo.
    2. Users want to be able to change the default color and initials of that same little box without uploading a photo.
    3. The default initials are backwards. Initials should always be listed in order of First name, Last name, at least for Germanic languages. If you're going to force a default on users, then at least use one that makes sense. More importantly, users should be able to set their own initials. These backwards initials are used in more than just that little photo box. My initials pop up backwards every time I edit a shared document or add content to a OneNote notebook. You have the option to set your own initials in the installed version of Office. Make it available online!
