  1. Allow non work or school accounts to open AIP and IRM protected documents

When trying to open a document e.g. PDF that has IRM applied to it, application AIP Viewer or Edge Chromium asks you to log in to a Work or School account to view the document. Please allow non-work or school accounts to also login and see the document.

  2. Open AIP encrypted office documents in Web Apps

Allow AIP encrypted (which had sensitivity labels applied) Office documents (word, excel, powerpoint, onenote, etc) and PDF files to be opened in the corresponding Office Web Apps.

  3. Allow for information protection to be applied from multiple tenants.

As a consultant who is frequently given a user account and login for collaboration in a client's tenant, we need to ensure that both our own company data and also the client data is secured. My laptop is enrolled in our organisation's MAM and MDM policies, which works fine, however logging into office applications with a second corporate login allows me to synchronise all files I am given access to, with no protection applied by the client's MAM policies.

I am told this is by design that the second account's policies are not applied, however if these can not be…

  4. Support for UL "Label Advanced Settings" and "Label Policy Settings" in across supported platforms

Currently only the windows UL client supports these settings. This means that something as simple as a different default label for Outlook is only available in Windows. Please implement this ASAP as it is the main reason why UL is not ready for production environments, since a different label for Outlook (among other settings) is essential for end-users.

  5. Improve end user experience when opening an expired protected file

When the users open the encrypted file which is expired, it will pop out the message to inform the users "you don't have the permission to open".

The message is too general, should be more specific to let the user know why he/she cannot open the file.

  6. Add a column to Windows File Explorer that shows the Sensitivity Label

Windows File Explorer can display a column titled "Sensitivity" but currently there is no data. Populate this column - or some other column - with the Sensitivity Label display name.

  7. Classification bar should be available in the Windows Office 365 built in integration with sensitivity labels

Like with the AIP add-in which have a classification bar in addition to the labels under the "Sensitivity" button. The request is that as part of the built in integration with the Windows Office 365 apps for sensitivity labeling, the bar will be available as well

  8. Sensitive Info Types - Test Type Button

The "Test Type" button is only accessible to Global Admins after a Sensitive Info Type is created. I would like to request that the "Test Type" button be made available to all those authorized at all times, not just available when a Compliance Administrator creates a type for the first time.

  9. mip sdk debug symbol (pdb) not found in Microsoft public symbol server.

There are things like mipcore.pdb, mipdotnet.pdb, mipfilesdk.pdb in the native profiler so that the memory can check the symbol information.

  10. Allow creation of a new DLP policy from an existing one

It would be helpful to allow selecting an existing rule as the basis to create a new one. It can easily be the case that most of the actions and notifications and so forth are identical across many rule, and only the conditions change.

  11. No need to show label dialog if user not interested in saving newly created document

If I open a new document e.g. excel type something to it and close it without save, Microsoft Azure Information Protection Dialog is displayed forcing user to label it.

    Steps:
    1. Open Excel
    2. Type something inside excel
    3. Click Save
    4. Label dialog appears, click Not Now
    5. File save dialog appears - click cancel
    6. Try to close document
    6. Label dialog appears again, click cancel with no file save dialog

  12. Footers being applied to several policies

On other classification technologies I have been able to apply or not apply footers to certain policies or groups but keep the same labels. With AIP, you are limited once you create a label to stick with the footer function if you want to use it all policies making it difficult to distribute to other use cases policies. This makes it difficult to keep consistency across the organization with base labels. I am now having to create sub labels called no footers to ensure they don't get the added footer which causes more confusion.

I recommend Microsoft come up with…

  13. Ability to Disable or Exclude specific Built-in sensitive info types in content discovery

Hundreds of Thousands of our documents are being incorrectly classified/identified by Sensitive Info Types as being INTERNATIONAL CLASSIFICATION OF DISEASES (ICD-9/10-CM).

Having raised MS Ticket 19009613, they advised I use this UserVoice to determine how we might:

    1. Ensure that data that includes the word 'worries' isn't classified as above, or

    2. have the ability to deselect or disable this Built-In sensitivity type

We were offered the idea of creating our own customised rules but we enjoy the default nature of scanning etc and don't wish to maintain own own classifications/labels.

    Thanks

    Phil

  14. Show the description of a sensitivity label after it is applied to a document/email/etc. if no encryption is applied

Currently for a sensitivity label to show the description of an applied label in the Outlook mail tips area, you have to use encryption in the label. Additionally, in other Office applications the description isn't show at all after a label has been applied, even with encryption enabled.

While encryption is the point of the label, it is impractical to encrypt labeled data right out of the gate as part of a rollout. Getting users used to labels is essential, and providing them the description without hovering over a label would be very helpful in helping them understand the purpose…

  15. Ability to Duplicate a policy

It would nice to have the ability to duplicate a policy when the configurations are the same for another policy. This would be a quicker way to create multiple policies with the same configuration but the ability to change the policies names would also need to be enabled. Changing the policy names is another suggested enhancement.

  16. Ability to Change Policy Names

Sometimes we may need to only change a policy name in DLP without recreating the whole policy simply because the naming convention needs to be updated. Suggestion is to add a feature to change a policy name without recreation.

  17. Support for disconnected environments Unified Labeling and built-in sensitivity labels

In special customer scenarios, systems might be completely disconnected and not have direct or indirect access to the cloud service. This is supported in the AIP Classic client. We need an option to distribute the policy manually in the disconnected environment and for protection we need HYOK integration. To enhance the experience (compared to the classic client), bootstrapping the client automatically would really help.
Even if this is some kind of niche scenario, it might be important for many public sector or highly regulated customers.

  18. Make visual markings visible in email message before hitting Send

Currently visual markings are not displayed to the author/sender of an email until after it's sent. Until it is sent and accessible in the Sent folder, the sender may be unware of the content of the visual marking. By seeing the visual marking, the sender can confirm that the appropriate label has been selected or select another more appropriate one.

  19. Enumerate through all email addresses in Distribution List to identify and enable outlook block/warn/justify email flow rules

Currently if a non-trusted email domain is embedded within Distribution List, Outlook email flow does not identify and hence does not apply appropriate policies set.

  20. Increase release speed of endpoint data loss prevention

I am seeing the ability to enable sensitivity labels at the sharepoint, teams and 365 endpoint, but it is still in preview. Please release this to us ASAP.
