Open .msg files attached in an email in Outlook 365 for macOS
Emails that are read in Outlook on MacOS are not able to open attached .msg files.
This function works fine in Windows. I have been told by Microsoft this file format can't be compatible with macOS and there are these work arounds.
i. Simplest way - Without using any additional software you may attach .msg files to outlook web application as a draft and then view them.
ii. Use the MSG Viewer for Outlookapp to view the messages in .msg format.
iii. If the file you need to open was not directly created by Outlook, you may be able to simply change the file extension from .MSG to .EML which will enable you to open it/view it.
iv. Alternatively, you can try changing the file extension to TXT and open the email in TextEdit on your Mac
Now, this is not a fantastic user experience. A product that is multi-platform should be able to the same tasks on all platforms. To say .msg is a windows only file format is just not true that macOS can't read these files it is your code in the outlook app that isn't compatible if there was no way to read the file then MSG Viewer for Outlook app wouldn't work either.
Please re-write your app to include this basic feature.
