Increase or release the limit for the policy with specific inclusions or exclusions
I would request you to increase or release the limit on the number of mailboxes for the retention policy with specific inclusions or exclusions. When we create a policy with specific inclusions or exclusions for the retention policy in SCC, we can apply the policy up to 1,000 mailboxes. However, this limit would be a big burden for enterprises in terms of the tenant management as they have a huge number of users.
Referenced the article below, https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compliance/retention-policies?view=o365-worldwide#a-policy-with-specific-inclusions-or-exclusions
We have a lot of Teams/SharePoint sites and want to apply retention label policies to the sites (as in, the retention labels belong to the sites rather than users). The 100 site limit is just a fraction of what we need and will have to create many versions of the same retention label policy (with same label set) in order to get round this limit.
Being that we are int he middle of a sharepoint on-prem to SharePoint Online migration, this 100 limit from a default retention policy is absolutely absurd. We migrated sites in the 100's per wave and need each wave excluded.
Got this back from MS Support on the subject on 10 Feb 2020:
"Further to my previous message there are unfortunately no plans to increase the inclusion/exclusion limit for retention policies."
Hi, instead of raising the limit, can you just simply enable the option to work with a Dynamic Security work? that way members of that group can inherited the exclusion.
Indeed we need these limits raised please. Today everything is a Group or a Site Collection of its own. Nested sites are not recommended as well, so please make these limits more practical.
On a side note, I am quickly running out of votes here as Microsoft insists on adding stuff nobody asked for but fails to fix stuff that is desperately needed. Please listen to your communicty or disband the site altogether.
A retention policy for specific inclusions / exclusions can contain no more than 1,000 mailboxes and 100 site collections. A tenant can contain no more than 10,000 retention policies. Our organizational entities are more than the limits, which blocks us from using this feature. See: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compliance/retention-policies
The 100 site limit exists for casehold policies too. It should be raised too. Our company has the need to handle around 10000 onedrives in case hold policies and need to have around the same ammount of exeptions in retetnion policies, with the current limits this is far away from an efficient workflow.
This is very much needed, I have many customers with over 1000 projects and each should be assigned (or excluded) to a different retention policy scheme. This limit needs to be increased asap, as the current limit is simply not realistic. Also the Site Collection entity is the new standard for years now (de-emphasizing enormous sub site structures in one SC), so limits on these entities should be increased as well.

We definitely need this as well, not just an increase in limits but an easy way to select/apply these policies to a large number of specific sites.

Same here. We have over 10000 SP sites and need to include only about half of it in the policy. The policy will notify the users when they save a document containing critical keywords on a public SP.

For large organizations, the 100 hub limit per tenant is not sufficient. please increase the limit so that we can set unique global navigation for agencies and departments within the organization.

To add to this, there needs to be an increase from the current 1000 recipient limit for S&C Portal Retention Policies. This is a very limiting limit for use cases that need to roll out a specific retention policy calculation to 10000+ explicitly stated mailboxes as we cannot apply the policy under the entire tenant. There are 10000+ mailboxes that will need to be out of scope of the policy as well.

Need to have the limit of 100 site collections increased for inclusion/exclusion in a retention policy. To meet business requirements where they may be thousands of site collections but not all require the same retention policy, this is very limiting limit.
