Microsoft Ticket 7765577 Email address: email@example.com
An outside person used an unprotected page of our Web Site to generate 100,000 emails. On Sunday April 1, 2018 10,000 emails were send and then Microsoft blocked the account and then Monday April 2, 2018 before we opened for business Microsoft open the account again and 10,000 more were sent out and Microsoft blocked our account again. When we started work we found a lot of rejected emails and that we could not send emails. We shut down the Web Site until the bad page was turned off and later fixed with a security fix. We deleted 85,000 emails in the SMTP queue. We believe we were safe to start emailing our business emails.
PCM is our Microsoft account provider so we called their tech support and they could not reset our email count so we could do business for the day. They generated a Microsoft Ticket 7765577 and Microsoft tech support contacted us around 12:00 noon.
At this time Microsoft told us that the account could not be reset and that it would reset in 24 hours. I told the tech person that that was unacceptable and tried to get to another level of Microsoft tech support that may be able to help but nobody called back.
So in the end the account reset at 5:00 am on April 3.
We sill believe that it is unacceptable that Microsoft is so inflexible and without customer service to be able to help in a case like this.
