Allow specification of IP for journaling destination
When configuring the journaling feature it is currently required to use a deliverable email address as the destination.
When journaling to an internal server it would be more convenient to specify a specific IP address for delivery.
For us, we want to use an internal server to archive all of our mail, but we don't want to have to configure DNS to do so.
You can create any domain you’d like @journal.contoso.com and then create a connector that points that domain to the IP of your choosing. The only caveat is that the server will have to accept that domain as well.

Will this split a second copy of the journal email if you are already smarthosting to a specific mail server/relay/filter? Journalling with a BCC to the original email will cause mail routing problems. We are experiencing mail loops using an external spam filter and smarthost outbound to it as well. The BCC addition to the original email is routing the mail back to our smarthost no matter what we do. The solution is to split a copy to the journal address and leave the original email alone so it can deliver correctly.
