Allow calendar appointments to be created without inviting all Group members
Right now, when you create a calendar appointment, the group itself is automatically invited, and so the calendar functions like a distribution list, inviting all the members of the Group.
We would like the calendar to have the ability to act more like a separate calendar, or a teamsite calendar. The overlay function would be powerful if we could use the calendar for ... say a leave/Out of office calendar and overlay it over our own calendar.
We shipped the ability to add an appointment that is only shown in the groups calendar. The minimum build to get this feature is 16.0.8429.1000, and the flight is now rolling out to Insiders fast, and will rollout to the other channels in the regular cadence over the next few months.
I wish the Office 365 “send a meeting invitation to group members” uncheck as default. When is this be available?
We need this as well... and it is NOT fixed. We want the ability to send an invite to the group calendar (display it in the group calendar) without sending it to all group members inboxes.
The problem is that the setting "Stop following in inbox" > "Receive replies to you only" cannot be set as default for all Group members.

No its not working per October 8 2018. The checkbox to send or not to the hole group works until you add and person. Then the check box for the hole group is checked and greyed out. So you HAVE to send to hole group anway.
Please look at this Microsoft the ability to edit a calendar event without notifying hundreds of users is surely a must.

I don't have a group calendar and everytime I add an event to my calendar it automatically sends invitations. It does it on ipad outlook too. Please tell me how I can stop auto invite or I will have to give up on my 365 .

"Pop - Nearly done" is a better status. Yes you can add an event to a group calendar that doesn't get sent out (in OWA) BUT as soon as you add one attendee the check-box 'send meeting invitation to group members' is checked and greyed and from that point on ALL group members are notified of changes to the event.
This post explains it well and is current https://office365.uservoice.com/forums/286611-office-365-groups/suggestions/32434663-selectivly-invite-attendees-to-group-calendar-even
Hopefully MS will take a look at it sometime and respond
BOOM, it is NOT done. The only thing you've proven here, Microsoft, is that you're delusional or disingenuous. Take your pick.
Can't believe we've been asking for this for so long. Any idea if it will ever be fixed? And what happened to the Group App that worked so well and is now disabled. We have no way to schedule meetings on our phones anymore.
uh...where is this? May be epxlain a little as to how to use this instead of just saying boom , done? I just tested by creating an event removing the group on the calendar. An invite was still sent to everyone in the group.
I'm using OWA and when I add an event to the group calendar, "Send a meeting invitation to group members" is automatically checked. We need to send some of the events to individual people within the group, so I uncheck this and then add them as an attendee to the event. Whenever I add someone as an attendee, "Send a meeting invitation to group members" is checked again and is greyed out so that I can't change it! In other words, I can either send an invitation to the entire group, or nobody at all.
Is there a workaround for this?
Yep, still not done. Bad Microsoft! If there really is an answer, you need to make it more transparent!
I have build 16.0.9126.2259 and I do not have the option to only show on group calendar it still adds to personal calendar
So I posted a solution and it was deleted: Ms outlook desktop users can follow the follow the following steps:
1. From Calendars,> Create New Appointment
2. Choose: Add Attendees
3. In the To line of the event that opened, press the + icon in front of the Contact Group to expand it.
4. Expand Contact Group
5. Confirm the warning dialog about expanding the list.
6. Update the attendee's list as desired and then send and close the event.

I will add to the other comments. This is a major problem for our office as group notifications are filling everyone's inbox up and they are all getting annoyed. We need a group calendar for meetings, appts, etc., but without sending email notifications, they can open the calendar up, that's the whole point of it!
Help us MS

Each appointment is still delivered to all the members of the group. With Outlook PC client i can not find a choise or selction. With Outlook online i can chose sending invitations to all group members (preselected), but if i postpone the appointment it is preselected without choice.
Thanks, Microsoft, You have never been helpful. It is 2018 already and still no workaround?
This is still completely broken. Adding items to the group calendar spams the whole team with invites and puts the appointment on everyone's PERSONAL calendar as well as the group calendar. We really need this fixed, MS.
Make that 92 comments!! Really keen to see this working.
Can someone from Microsoft tell us why you even have this site? If your intent was to have a conversation with your users and get their feedback, then it's not working. You have 90 comments from users saying something is not working, and all you say is Boom It's Done. The last response was 9 months ago. Does anyone even reads this? This site just reminds of the old "Tone Deaf Microsoft". Please do us a favor and shut this down.
We had that ( or a similar) problem with a user or two. Turned out they had to make sure they were not in Schedule View. Any of the others (Day, Week, Month, etc) will create the event with "Save and Close", instead of "Send".
