Group Naming Policy should apply to Group ID (e-mail address) as well
When you create a Group Naming Policy in the Exchange Admin Center, this policy works great for the actual name of a group, but it does not seem to apply to the Group ID, which is used for the e-mail address of the Group.
Example: I have a Group Naming Policy to add the text 'Group-' as a prefix to group names for new Groups. When I create a new Group and I choose 'My New Group' as a name, the actual name of the Group will be 'Group-My New Group'. But the Group ID remains 'mynewgroup' and therefore the e-mail address will be 'mynewgroup@<tenant>.onmicrosoft.com'.
I would love to see that the Group Naming Policy is applied to the Group ID as well, so the Group ID in the example above will become 'group-mynewgroup'.
This feature released several weeks ago. Let us know what you think!
It is not done. Group Naming policy can be not applied to a SMTP address to have different naming space for groups which will not related tenant names with *.onmicrosoft.com addresses. We want to have full control about our mailflows and for this we need to have a naming space applied by default to all groups where the MX is not located by Microsoft. We want to have control which SMTP address (naming space) is used for Tenantwide all groups created by O365 or users in O365 by any process. Also for Teams, and other apps. We need this urgently.

Option to change/edit/modify the Group's Email address still not available as of 07/2018, any updates for this feature?

I started by creating a group (from Outlook) with the name:” Almedalen” and group id: “almedalen”. At that time, no Group Naming Policies existed in my tenant. Then I created a Group Naming Policy with a prefix attribute equal to the “company” field. Then I return to Outlook and tries to create a new group which also is named “Almedalen”. The system suggests group id “almedalen” and since that group ID already is in use, I cannot create the group. I was expecting the system to suggest the group ID <company>-almedalen.
No, it isn't done. After 10-15 minutes of creation, the display name gets updated with the policy but email address doesn't. Please check thoroughly at your end before declaring anything as done!!!

YES! We need the Group Naming Policy apply to Group ID! That is more important than for name of group. We need it to reserve the name space of email address! Please realize it immediately!

Or at least have the option to let a naming policy apply to the Group ID as well. Probably better to let admins choose if the naming policy should just apply to the Group Name or to the Group ID as well.
