I'm glad that this works through PowerShell, but it would be much better if I could also easily do that within the Adminportal

This needs to be added asap. Many of the reasons have been mentioned below. Thanks.

It makes a lot of sense. Some important teams are on several distribution lists. Without the function a new team member must be added on every list separatedly. There is also a risk to forget some lists, especially when a team members does not belong to a critical team anymore.

Now that Microsoft is pushing out Teams, the first question we got is "How do we use Teams to chat with everyone?". The obvious suggestion would be to convert +Helios Manchester and +Helios London to Office 365 and then to Teams. Except these two distribution lists are used in the master +Helios Team DL and therefore I assume that's why they are not available for upgrade to a Office 365 group. But even if we did upgrade them, we can't add them to +Helios Team because of this uservoice.
So please, please fix this as we're having to consider duplicating everyone in the distribution list and the Team :-(

Yes please! We need this function.

Our system depends heavily on this function. Seems like it would be necessary for a hybrid environment especially. I too would like to see this added.

REMEMBER O365 GROUPS ARE THE FUTURE ACCORDING TO POWERSHELL "create-distributiongroup" COMMANDS AND THE EAC... except that they are lacking 70% of the functionality of security groups and DL's.
Glad I didn't blindly convert everything over.

Would appreciate if you could provide this feature

This is such a basic functionality. The conundrum of managing nesting options is not everyone's reality but having the option is key for providing a flexible solution.

basic functionality that needs to be included.

I have mixed feelings about this - on one hand, it feels very important - we have fixed groups of users who belong to bigger units, so nested distribution lists have been our go-to for years. And you cannot assign permissions to distribution lists - so we would prefer to use 365 groups with nesting options. But... this would make permissions much more complicated to resolve.

It's absolutely basic and it should be included since the beginning.

Please have this option provided to update O365 groups to DL.

This seems like such a basic function that it is bizarre that it does not work.

I used PowerShell to add an O365 Group to a Distribution List but messages do not get delivered to the group. According to the Product Group, this is not expected to work properly - no insight as to why...
