There should be an option to convert a shared mailbox to an office 365 group especially since the Office 365 Group is the newer better version of the Shared mailbox and there is no way to convert.4,166 votes

I have a need to convert a number of distribution groups to mail-enabled security groups. Right now I have to record DG members, delete the DG, create the SG and populate the SG.654 votes
Just to clarify, you are asking for a DG-to-SG conversion, not involving Office 365 Groups, correct?
Currently an Owner of a group can delete that group - I'm aware soft-deletion is coming, but ideally we want to be able to stop users from deleting groups entirely. An Azure policy to specify who can delete groups would put power back with the IT Dept. This will allow us to empower users, but without the risk of them deleting groups and the content getting past the retention period and being permanently lost.460 votes

Every time I create a new group I only have the option to click check boxes for individual users to add them to the group. I would like to be able to add groups as members. We have state, office, department groups. It would be nice to just add them as a member of a new group/team...60 votes
Can you please tell us if your other groups (state, office, department, etc) are Security Groups or are they other Office 365 Groups?

Thanks for posting. The updated Office 365 Admin portal (in preview) includes a Groups center for managing group properties – name, description, membership, privacy type, lifecycle, etc. Reports on usage will also be released in the Office 365 reports center this summer. What isn’t addressed in the preview portal?
It will reduce the no. of groups to be created in the org as well as will reduce the complexity of adding 100 of users manually to O365 groups.13 votes
