How can we improve Office 365 Groups?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.

  1. Copy files between groups

    Now that you can copy files from one drive to groups. We need the ability to do this between groups and back to one drive

  2. Allow multiple user created Notebooks to be visible in the group menu bar and not just the default Notebook

    I create a new notebook from Site/Document library but it is not readily visible to the Group members unless they visit the "site -> Document Library". Just like Files, make NoteBook tab open a page displaying multiple notebooks.

  3. Be able to configure the Files tab Welcome page

    Groups is really looking good now.
    So my suggestion is that it would be great to be able to configure the default page that a user comes to when they come into the Groups Files/Site tab. Current it always defaults to the Files library.
    This would be similar to the way that you could configure Publishing sites in SharePoint to have a different welcome page.

  5. Ability to control which Office 365 services are available for use within groups

    Creation of an Office 365 Group will automatically provision a number of O365 services (SP doc library, team site, OneNote, Planner, Calendar, etc). For organizations who are not ready (or able) to leverage certain services, how about providing the ability to control which services can be provisioned for use in groups?

    For example, if our organization is only able to leverage an SP doc library and a OneNote, I would be able to configure groups to only make those specific services visible to our end users (items like a team site and Planner would be hidden/unavailable). This would be critical…

  6. new conversation

    In a conversation one wants sometimes to remove people from the To box. In that case Groups makes it a new Conversation Thread. That is not desired behaviour. It just should follow on the previous conversation. So the conversation is defned by the subject, not by the people involved in the conversation!

  7. Display Office 365 Group Only for Members

    User can create Office 365 group as Private Access Type which is "Only members can see content".
    But the Private Access Type group is also displayed in the Global Address List.
    The group member User prefers the group is visible only for members.
    Currently there is no option to achieve User’s request.

    The Additional option which could modify that Private Type group is displayed only for the group members would be a useful function for Users.

    This feedback is based on a customer voice from support SR.

  8. Allow disabling of automatic O365 Group creation for Team Sites

    I hear that groups will be auto-created along with new team sites (and eventually implemented for old sites) in the near future. It is critical that we be able to turn this off, preferably at various levels (site, site collection, tenant would be nice).

    For example, we have a couple of sandbox site collections where we create test sites. I do not suddenly want sites created here to have corresponding groups that display in our global address book in Outlook. Groups are far too visible and uncontrolled, I'm worried that this update will push us to turn them off entirely.

  9. Automatically add/remove users from groups at set time

    Having the ability in the admin o365 portal to set a time and date to add/remove user to group at certain time. To allow users to not receive unwanted emails while away or take over someone else's emails while away.

    So someone who is away will not get unwanted Support emails what will be dealt with by other people while they are away.

    If someone who deals with Sales email is away somebody else can receive these emails for the duration of the holiday and take over their duties.

    Right now you can only search search the name by the first name of the group. If the group name has more than one word it will not allow you to search the other words. This functionality works in OWA just not in Outlook 2016.

  11. Office 36 group sub-folders and French translation

    When adding a 365 group in mail tab (like a shared group), subforlders are not translated (Inbox, Deleted Items, Sent Items instead of Boîte de réception, Elements suprimés, Elements envoyés)

  12. Group name or logo cannot be modified after creation

    When group name is edited, the update is not applied on the Group sharepoint site where the name is still set to the original one. This also happens with the logo.

    Changes on the Group (title, logo,...) should be correctly applied to the Group sharepoint site.

  13. Group-level sharing link type management

    Hi, I'd like to define the sharing link type for Groups or a specified group.

    Today it is only possible to define the default sharing link type (Direct / Internal / Anonymous Access) at tenant level.

    This defines the options displayed when selecting a document, clicking on the "Share" or "Get a link" menu. These options are Restricted link / View link / Edit link with or without account.

  15. Blogs in Groups

    Add Delve Blog functionality (PointPublishing.aspx) to Groups. At the moment blogs can only be created in Delve within the personal space of a user. When that user leaves the company, valuable information in blogs may be lost when the personal space of the user is removed.

  16. Consistent UI across the apps and connectors

    Conversations (EXO), Files (SPO), Calendar (EXO), Notebook (SPO), Planner (External?) are well organized on Outlook - Group View... but no where else! The only way to go back to the consistent view on SPO is "Group Conversation" link on top right but it should be better than that. I hope that clicking "Group" Link should have some flag for all tools and make sure that the same look and feels are avaialble across the relevant apps. And adding "Group" tile on the list of apps would be also very good idea.

  17. Automatically List Groups by Unread Notifications

    When you have 10+ Groups its sometimes easy to miss Notificaitons/Conversations. Make OWA so that it Automatically orders the groups by unread notifcations.

  19. PLANNER - Is it possible to change the size (larger/narrow) of the columns

    Is it possible to change the size (larger/narrow) of the columns when viewing by buckets or by assignment? This would be very useful as the screen limits are already reached with 4 columns

  20. How to restore deleted Distribution List in O365?

    Adding a Trash can or Undo the previous step can resolve this issue.
