Private - Public Groups: How about Semi-Public Groups?
Public groups are way too open. Anyone in your tenant can become a member, delete everything or go into outlook and send out emails on behalf of the group.
The alternative Private is too silo/restricted with no sharing info from emails, no access to Teams or Plans (but you can make a subsite, unlink permissions and add Everyone in the subsite, making it "public")
So how about a "Public - Restricted" Group, where Everyone can view contents but not edit, and those who want to join have to be approved by owners first? This means we can break down the information silos without having third parties interfering with our work or our identity.
I like this idea! There is obviously a gap between Public and Private Teams. I would like to see some kind of policy setting just like the ‘Prevent O365 Group Creation’ method that would prevent a certain group of internal users to be able join any team without approval and that any O365 Group mailbox (particularly Public O365 Group mailboxes!) is not accessible at all until approval to join has been given. All Teams Workloads should of course respect that policy. This all would be required to accommodate temporary personnel without comprehensive nda’s
We are also in this same boat where we would like everyone to be able to see content but not be able to add themselves to the Group or email from the group
