Should be an option that an Admin can set
As a user and not an IT administrator, unfollowing groups has saved me countless hours of unnecessary e-mails. If you want to use groups as a distribution list, DON'T. Use distribution lists. The tool you are looking for already exists for forcing unnecessary e-mails upon us lowly users (your end customers!)
It is really mindbogglingly that this is not already an option.
We really need this capability for the reasons stated in the suggestion. Distribution groups have this functionality and if MS expects O365 Groups to replace distribution groups, this same functionality needs to exist.
