Possibility to archive groups
Please give us a possibility to archive groups for purpose of lifetime governance. This means a) an administrative tool/report to find inactive or unused groups and b) an option to cleanup these groups. This could mean but is not limited to making them readonly, hiding them from Groups List, etc.
Thanks for the feedback on this scenario. Now that Microsoft 365 Groups (formerly Office 365 Groups) have integrated with retention policies and Microsoft Teams has provided the ability to archive a Team, we are assessing the remaining parts of the scenario.
Hi - the Roadmap link just goes to the homepage and I can't find the specific item. Could you provide an updated link please.

Would ultimately like the ability to set policy to automatically archive/delete O365 groups that are no longer active after a certain period of time.

Can you please provide an update on this. Recently, the ability to achieve teams has been rolled out. The ability to achieve groups is a huge need. Offices are getting to bogged down with inactive groups. We need this feature for Microsoft 365 to continue to be efficient and user-friendly.

Can you please provide an update for this we are already waiting 2 years..
We have a big organization and are refusing using Office 365 Groups for already 2 years because there's no build-in functionality for archiving a group.
This functionality was added to Teams recently. Has it been enabled for Groups?

Any update on this. It's July 2018 and can't see anything on the roadmap
Definitely need this please!

Ultimately our users would like to be able to remove the group from their sidebar in Outlook, but have the ability to Discover it later and re-add it if they need to make it an active group again, without the hassle of having to "re-join" the group later - especially if they are the only owner.
The roadmap item specified, 61261 is not on the roamap or Product Updates website. Would you confirm the number? The recent release of 14680 expires the group based on date of group creation with no consideration of activity. Thank you.

Very keen to see this feature appear sooner rather than later - to hopefully bring the groups feature under control.
We've seen potential deletion and retention policies but we may want to just archive a group so that its not prominent in searches/indexes. Essentially to better help us organise that vast amounts of groups we will inevitably have.
Will these policies / archiving functions work with Yammer connected Office 365 Groups?
What's the current status? I can't find this in the roadmap.

This is a great tool and agree that we need a way to reduce "group" clutter but want to keep the files and conversations for historical purposes. Thank you.
Definitely this. We need to able to use Groups as a temporary project work space and close it so it does not surface in UI:s when inactive (unless expressly looking for closed/archived groups) but still be able to apply retention policies. Would be super nice to have this feature.
Even better would be to be able to archive a Group as a subsite in a sharepoint online site collection. Use the Group as an active work space. When you close/delete the group you get the possibility to archive it as a subsite.

This could even be done in an automated way like proposed in this post: https://office365.uservoice.com/forums/286611-office-365-groups/suggestions/9952986-automatically-archive-groups-that-are-no-longer-be
