Convert Shared Mailbox to Office 365 Group
There should be an option to convert a shared mailbox to an office 365 group especially since the Office 365 Group is the newer better version of the Shared mailbox and there is no way to convert.

Thanks to all of you for your feedback on this item. We’ve taken note that interest in this particular request has increased. Please continue to provide your feedback as we assess the priority in relation to other initiatives the teams have committed. Thank you!

Yes, have just found a need for this. Shared mailbox has already been set up and is in use. Rather than creating a new email, it would be good to keep using the same one.

This only makes sense if you allow Group mailboxes to have a folder structure there is another idea for allowing folders in group mailboxes go vote on that too!
Its hard to get users to use groups when the individual items that make up groups are a step back from their standalone counter parts.

I’m currently sharing an Office 365 calendar with other users (Mac, Windows, iOS, Android) in our organisation instead of setting up a Group calendar.
It seems to be impossible to copy or migrate ALL events (including recurrences) from an existing Shared Calendar to a Group Calendar on Outlook or OWA or 365 Admin on a Mac as there’s no option to view/copy/migrate ALL events.
Not to mention that basic Group functionality in Outlook is still NOT available cross-platform.ALL I WANT is for our O365 users to be able to view/access 1 Group Calendar and view/access 1 Group's files within Outlook on Mac, iOS, Windows and Android.
How can I achieve this? Is it doable? Anyone? Please!?! -

We have a few shared mailboxes, that has worked great for us so far, but now we would like to convert these into office365 groups, where we have a sharepoint site connected to the group - to share documents and files through within the group.

I have question about it:
1. Do you have any plan increase mailbox size 50 to 100 gb. Or how we can buy additional storage like Exchange Online Archive ?.
2. How can I merge 2 Office 365 Group with data or migrate from one to the other ?
3. How Can I convert Office 365 Group to Shared Mailbox ?

Same here, we have many shared mailboxes across the organisation which need to be migrated to TeamSites. The main questions is how to migrate data and whether conversation in Teamsite/Office365 group supports subfolders, labeling etc?

@admin We are currently in the process of migrating our organization to M365. Currently the help desk uses a shared mailbox. It would be great to be able to convert that account and mailbox into an O365 Group and migrate the existing data.

This is a great idea. We currently have a shared mailbox that is a few years old, and it contains a lot of historical information about the specific project. Having the ability to convert this to an O365 group would mean we can keep the use of the shared email address and utilize O365 groups functionality without having to make a new project email address.

Like many of the others that have posted previously, we also use shared mailboxes for task based groups like HR, Accounting, IT and many other project or client focused groups. Unfortunately for us, the fact that the group users cannot add this shared mailbox to the Outlook app on their mobile devices is a deal-breaker. We didn't anticipate the amount of time that these users would be away from a desktop or laptop computer when we made the Groups versus Shared Mailbox decision; now it's hurt productivity tremendously.

we use shared mailboxes for task based groups like HR, Accounting, IT and many other project or client focused groups. Teams and O365 Groups MAY be a solution but the management of these new services is confusing and time consuming. We cannot allow our staff to create their own Groups/Teams and Plans as the products were configured when released. Controlled deployment of critical functions is key.

I just migrated 300 users from their parent to their own Office 365 Tenant.
They were using in some cases Shared mailboxes for teams/departments.
Would love to be able to convert these to Office 365 teams without much hassle. -

We currently use a shared mailbox in order to successfully share a calendar on Mac’s.
Ideally we’d like to move this over to a Group calendar without attempting to cut and paste all events/meetings (into 2020) to the new Group calendar. Please roll this out as quickly as possible!
