Add Group Categorization or Group Tags AND let us cluster groups by category
The groups list in the left pane is just one long list. I'd like to add a tag to each group (basically group metadata) so I can click little flyouts/dropdowns that help visually navigate all the groups.
It would nice if emails sent to a group were automatically categorized/tagged so users could see/filter right away from their inbox list which emails came through a group email vs having to open each email to see.
As others say, would love to see this in order support findability -- search, site directory, etc...
This is incredibly important to avoid 'site sprawl' and to ensure we're not creating invisible silos across our business. This is also important from an auditing and compliance point of view to ensure we can quickly surface relevant groups quickly.

Would be even better if had a way to select a template for the SharePoint site and some metadata fields for the Group / site / Team
- Group type (Team; Committee; Project...)
- Group department / scope (IT, Finances...)
Yes, there needs to be some kind of directory of groups by category. A group could appear under multiple categories (tags). Search works, but only if you know what your looking for.
Yes, in our company we will have quickly some thousands Groups and without a better organization, it will be impossible to navigate... Flat vision of Groups is ok for little/middle companies. But for big ones with large use of Groups, that will become rapidly a critical lack.
