Allow disabling (or a configurable path) for file sharing for Groups
I get the advantage of having a file share ability in Groups. However, this works completely outside all of our current document management and backup policies. What if a company has a policy for data to not reside in the cloud? Or they already have a structured SP site on-prem and now this is messing up how/where files are organized? And plus now this is one more place to back up (and MS doesn't seem to like to make it easy for us to back up things that are in the cloud). Groups have a lot of really good features, but data just getting stored any random place any user can create could be very problematic. Either give us the ability to disable this for a Group, or at least the ability to make the file share path whatever we want, so it can tie in with existing structures.
Not just "data stored any random place"...data shared with any random user, including external users.
We have SharePoint and OneDrive locked down to prevent external access.
O365 Groups circumvents that. That is a huge security hole, in addition to the administration headache Allison describes.

Desperately need this. +1
I agree 100%. We have a SharePoint Governance Strategy and Groups are tearing it apart. We have multiple domains in our tenant and each purchased their own licenses which come with SharePoint Storage. Groups just pulls from the pool of available storage. This is a Mess!! We even turned off OneDrive and Groups allows this type of behavior vs using the SharePoint Governance Strategy. For those of us who are trying to deal with Retention Mandates I am concerned that Groups and OneDrive are taking away from SharePoint which is the official Strategy for retention.
