Popup in Apps Store says upgrade to 365 if using Mac OS High Sierra or higher then breaks system
On 10/8, a pop up from my Apps Store said to upgrade Windows to 365 if using Mac OS High Sierra or greater. I downloaded 365 which turned out to be a Subscription I didn't want, and then my Windows was broken. I have a 2016 Office perpetual license. For the past 11 days, that's right, 11 days, MS support has been unable to remove 365 and re-instate my own perpetual license. I have therefore been unable for 11 days to use my Office application. What kind of product support is this? The Tech indicated 365 is NOT needed for High Sierra or greater, so it seems this was a Marketing ploy. MS Support 10/8 "Dorthy" Tier 1 unable to remove 365 subscription. 10/8 "Donald" Tier 2 recommended removing all Office then re-uploading. 10/9 Donald recommends updating my OS to Catalina "because it'll be faster" No resolution 10/10 no phone call back as promised 10/10 I call and get another Tech abuthahir No resolution and was told Catalina is creating difficulties. Promised call back 10/14. 10/14 No call back 10/17 abuthahir callback. No resolution and recommended deleting and re-loading Office again. My monthly uploads for last month, and now this month, which I pay for, are being taken up in uploads recommended by MS Tech Support, with no resolution. I am therefore resolved to enter this information into any forum that I can find, and not only provide the information of 365 breaking my system, but further informing the public that Tech Support is unable to remove the 365 license for whatever reason, leaving me stranded with a broken Office system. Absolutely unacceptable. I have spent 8.5 hours already on the phone with MS Tech Support, with absolutely no resolution. Unacceptable.
