Remove case sensitive searches for shared mailboxes and permissions
Over the last month or so case sensitive searches have been added into the shared mailbox and permissions sections on the Office 365 admin page. Could these be reverted back or was there a reason for case sensitive searches being added?
I had weeks of no results coming back until I spoke to Microsoft Support who also have the issue and they noticed it is now case sensitive.

Please remove case sensitive searches!!!
One thing I did find is that if you Capitalize the first letter of the search, it will bring back all results of the search.
Example: searching for Dannyxxxxxx@xxxxx.com
Search for danny, 2 results
Search for DANNY, 0 results
Search for Danny, all results
the search is basing off of how the email address is entered
The same problem is with adding users to groups through O365 admin page. It is case sensitive. It really does not make sense why would this search be case sensitive. Nothing else in Microsoft is like that.
Even if the Case-sensitivity is removed, still you can't search by Surname, UPN and perform partial match, which is a nonsense in 2019 and these functions should be added - preferably also to Active Directory and the Admin Portal itself.
I totally agree with this having wasted hours on this issue and not finding out the cause until having created an issue with microsoft support.
I was the 6th customer today to call support about this. :D
Also noticed this change when I was looking for a mailbox that I was sure about it existed but failed to find it.
Can’t see any valid reason for a search to be case sensitive.
