Remove 10 KB thumbnailPhoto limit Exchange Online
When syncing pictures using dirsync from your AD to Office 365 there is a 10 KB limit for exchange online, while AD has a 100KB limit. So pictures >10KB will not show up in your mails. You can work around this using a powershell command Set-UserPhoto that makes u put up pictures of max 500KB. A 10 KB limit in 2016... really? This should all be the same across all technologies.
I would suggest changing the limit in Exchange Online to 100KB the same as AD this would help a lot of people out.
This is still an issue in October 2020. My on-premise mailboxes use the 10KB Azure AD thumbnail in Teams and my case with MS Support said this is by design. Teams photos look horrible in our environment while on prem SfB looks great.
"Hope you are doing well.
This is a follow up email in regards with the case 21450577.
Unfortunately, MSGraph cannot communicate with on-prem Exchange server, The fall back mechanism only allows MSGraph to communicate with Azure Active directory if Exchange online mailbox is not available for any Teams user.
Using OWA for on-prem exchange mailbox will not allow the communication between MsGraph and on-prem Exchange server.
Thank you for choosing Microsoft support.
This 10kb limit has caused us major issues since we had a whole system in place where we had our HR department approve 100kb photos. All of the alternatives don't really work for us.

I did it now with a Powershell Script too.
Add small image to AD
AD sync to AzureAD
Add bigger image to Exchange
But if the limit would be at least 100kB, the same as Azure, you could at least try to use just one command and photo, not two differents.

Prohibitive size. Will not work for us.
