Set Auto-mapping to Disabled by default
With Auto-mapping set to Enabled by default, it makes it more difficult for us to manage our mailboxes.
While some staff have full access permissions to a mailbox, we do not want it automatically being added to their Outlook, and downloading straight away.
Some staff only need to access this via the Webmail.
What I would like to see is:
a) The ability to set auto-mapping to disabled by default,
b) The ability to disable auto-mapping on multiple/all accounts at once, or
c) At the minimum, the ability to disable automapping per mailbox through the GUI (for those like myself with little powershell experience)

I would like to know whether we can disable auto-mapping at organizational level or at least for accounts that are going to create newly.
I can't believe this still has yet to be addressed.
Yes disable auto-mapping please!!!

I would also like to see this as a per-tenant feature, or at least have the option in the GUI to turn off auto-mapping. We have people with several mailboxes and when they are auto-mapped they will sometimes just stop updating completely.

Of importance here to me is the ability to view and set mapping of a shared mailbox from the GUI admin console without having to use powershell.
Yes! I want to be able to do items a, b, and c. I want to be able to see the automapping status as well. And I agree with Daniel that the title of the post should be edited to reflect that you are asking for the ability to change the default for your tenant, not for the O365 default to actually be changed.
Also, it would be nice to see the Automapping status because you can't right now.

It should be an option, not a default setting for the org
Came here to say that I disagree. But then I read the text. I think you should change the title to get more attraction. Because it seems you are proposing to change the default behaviour for everybody, worldwide ;)
