Make it possible to change the tenant name in Office365
Iv realized that there is no option to change the tenant name in Office365.
This would be a great tool for businesses that change their name and want to keep their current solution in Office365.
A simple task like changing the tenant name for Office365 would save businesses allot of time.

The functionality to make it possible to change the name of an O365 tenant, especially with Sharepoint Online in mind, is being planned. There is no ETA at this time though.

A quick search for "office 365 migrate tenant to tenant" shows that private enterprise has figured out how to make this happen. Why can't Microsoft? Your bot's response "Unfortunately, it isn't possible to change tenant name that appears in your SharePoint URL" is ridiculous for a company that manages enterprise business

For the person who thought Microsoft had documented how to accomplish this, the company name and tenant name are not the same. Company name is, and (to my knowledge) always has been, easy to change. Tenant name is even more difficult to change than it is to get Congress to pass legislation with bipartisan support. Why, oh why?? Our tenant name reflects the company's name of three lifetimes ago! Only the company Founder has any idea what it means, and it is of COURSE very prominently displayed in Sharepoint.

Please I need to be able to change the tenant name to reflect my new subscription domain. This is very urgent and its confusing customers accessing SharePoint site. I'm thinking of suspending my account altogether because of too many complaints and is hurting the business. Do something SOON !

I need this too! Our company has grown from a small business (org name was the first & last name of the owner) to a bigger business which has acquired another. The owner has now left and the company rebranded, but the old owners personal name is all over our URLs and we can't get rid of it! The old owner wants it gone too as he no longer has any association with the company, but his name is all over our URLs.

Hey guys, it's time for an update and an ETA on this clearly really critical feature. My org has just merged with another and we need desperately to present according to (new) Brand. I heard there had been a trial offering of some description here, when is that going to become a broader beta offering and when is GA penned for? Best wishes to all for a peaceful holiday and to a brave new, not falling back into old ways, year

It is so crazy that for a company that is enterprise and business focused doesn't support tenant rename just for mergers and acquisitions. I noticed there are 13943 votes. Assuming one vote from a single org. That would break down to 13943 dissatisfied customers. What percentage of them might consider leaving Microsoft 365 for a solution that can make this work!!

I'm confused, if I go to etiher Azure>Properties or O365 Admin and go to Org settings I'm able to change the name. Is this new or is this just a display name? (if changing, does this affect anything)

Not allowing people to update their tenant name was a major design flaw. It seems people have companies have needed this feature now for almost a decade. Hopefully, this will be fixed soon in Office 365.

Ok, time out. I have started manual migration to new tenant name. We are under layer pressure, but nobody in Microsoft care. Completely dishonor to every IT worker managing Office/Microsoft365. Microsoft cannot manage to rename one item in DB and DNS settings to move my-company to my-newcompany. Instead of this easy (and mostly automatic) process, now backuping all emails, onedrive data from current tenant to be imported to new one, on the same platform. I am very angry customer. You cannot imagine how much. Dishonor to every piece of my working time.

Do you guys refer to changing O365 tenant name? If yes, it can be changed in Admin Center > Settings > Org settings > Organization profile (on the tab above) > Organization information > Name.
But it takes some time to reflect in all parts of Office 365.
Currently only OneDrive for Business client unable to reflect the updated name.I got the info from here:

Dear Microsoft, with so many smart people, tell me, did you not imagine that the map name "onedrive - c..o.mp.a.ny.. n…a.m.e. …bv" might be way too long to come in handy and nog provide problems? Come on!!
