Custom installation from Office 365 (2016)
I need custom installation from Office 365 (2016)!
I need on some computers only Word & Excel. But I MUST install the complete suite with all other never used apps. This need diskspace, that I will use for other apps.
Kind Regards,
Steffen

The purpose of the Office Deployment Tool is to provide this capability. Download the Office 2016 version from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49117.

Use the Office Deployment Tool (ODT)... https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219422.aspx
Or better yet, ask your IT to do it.
If you are the IT, come on... use ODT.

there have been times, where every computer has had giant disk space. this had beed the times where microsoft decided to let us choose which part of office we need - to save disk space. nowadays there are more and more litte, small computers like tablets and convertables, with a limited space. and now... microsoft forces us to install everything allways and complete - even without a possibility to use an second disk like sd-cart in the tablet. well done!

Hello, this is s**t just like OneDrive with no bandwidth limiting. Fixxxxxxxxx ittttttt. Why do I need to install loads of cr*p I won't use just to have to wait longer for all the associated updates to go on every month.

I use a small ssd for OS and a large harddisk for other software. Why can't I install Office (as I can do with every other software) on my harddisk?

To whom it may concern
My Windows tablet PC (Toshiba) has a local disk of 32 GBytes (EMMC drive) only which is not sufficient space to run updates of Windows and MS Office (365) even only Windows 10, MS Office 365, Virus Check, Internet security and Acrobat Reader are installed.
Unless I cannot install Office 365 on disk D: it will be no longer able to run major upgrade of Windows 10.
Sorry, due to technical reasons I need to install MS Office on Drive D: !!!
Kind regards

Came here after looking for a solution to this, and found that there isn't one. Guys creating symlinks or editing xml files is not an option... I'm done with microsoft spoonfeeding me with unneeded sh*t and telling me what I need from them.
Since the only thing that really makes a difference is the bottom line, I'm cancelling my subscription right now. Anyway, I only use the basic stuff available long ago in alternative packages. This is it, I'm switching today.

I only need certain Office components, mostly Excel and Word. Sometimes also Outlook for training purpose.
I only have limited disk space, which should not be used for apps, which I do not need. So please allow customized installation.
It should also be possible to choose the installation path/drive. -

Read the thread. At the top of page 2 I have given links to instructions on how to install Office 2016 on a drive other than C:
You have to use Windows "Symbolic Links" to "trick" Windoze into thinking it is looking at C: when it is actually redirected to another drive ...
