Custom installation from Office 365 (2016)
I need custom installation from Office 365 (2016)!
I need on some computers only Word & Excel. But I MUST install the complete suite with all other never used apps. This need diskspace, that I will use for other apps.
Kind Regards,
Steffen

The purpose of the Office Deployment Tool is to provide this capability. Download the Office 2016 version from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49117.

On my System C: is a 256GB SSD, which is nearly full.
Can't use Office for this reason! -

I have 2 notebooks with only about 4gig available on the SSD's. I would like to install only word and Excel but MS doesn't give me the option. Unfortunately Microsoft thinks they know what the customer wants or is that they don't really care what the customer needs or wants. Not keen to renew my subscription when I can't use the program on 2 out of 3 notebooks. Re-installing Libreoffice on the two notebooks.

Hello, one more from me. Brand new Dell machine with SSD + HDD / 128GB + 1TB and I want to decide where common apps as Office will be installed. The ONLY special "app" is OS that I want to keep it on SSD. All well-written apps respect user's requirements which is to decide where to be installed and what space will be used by them. And I want to keep SSD storage only for a special apps as OS or some very specific applications I need to run very fast. And Office is not one of them, it's a common application I can run from HDD without any issue. If you like to store it on limited SSD storage ok, your decision but respect mine. Is it so hard to understand that customers can decide by themselves and they have their reasons to do that? And choosing custom installation path is not a rocket-science feature users would demand from applications.

+1! While I have a full desktop that can handle the entire Office Suite, I also have a 2-in-1 with limited HD space, and only ever use Word and PowerPoint on that computer. Installing the entire 365 suite completely fills my hard drive and then slows the computer

This shall be absolutly possible. Many cheap notebooks and tablets have only a 32 GB drive and this space is with a complete Office installation very fast full, especially because Office must be installed on the system drive and can not be installed on a SD-card.

I am yet another person suckered into getting Office 2016 and now find I can't select the install location, even with "Office Deployment Tool" which wasted hours of my time trying to find instructions for actually making a custom install.

This feature already available. Use the Microsoft Deployment tool.

This is super annoying when using a 2-in-1 with very limited disk space. I don't want to go with Office Mobile (too limited, and my 2-in-1 replaces my PC at times), but the whole package takes way too much space!

Hey there!
Would be great to be able to chose the apps you need to install and to set a partition of your choice!!! -

Not that its a great solution but if I'm going to have to use the configuration method why not allow me to write the line so I can install it on a different location.

Just went for 365 Personal as needed Word but know I may use Excel and on occasion maybe PowerPoint,, but the rest I don't want, went to install waiting for the normal where to install and what options etc but nope, so uninstalled straight away as it installed it on C drive and programs I do not need.
And not be able to choose my install location is TBH a deal breaker, my C drive is an NVME drive, small storage but fast for my OS and a couple of key performance programs,, Office is not one of them, I don't want it there :(
So this new "business model" MS seem to like of zero choice has made office basically to inflexible for me to want to use I'd rather go for compatible programs for the amount I actually need it, if 365 insists on installing stuff I don't need wasting HDD space that's bad, but then forcing me to waste it on my performance drive with limited space is insane.
So unless this changes I'm going cancel it as it's not fit for my purpose :(

Microsoft why are you doing this to use. you are the safe haven for control. stop trying to shove cortana, one drive, and click to run down our throats. They waste memory and cpu.
