+1 here for sorting tasks by category, I use it to mark tasks at different stages, not started, underway, completed unbilled, billed and finished. on desktop version it works but cant do it on the web version, you would think the web version would be all singing all dancing but its so not!
In fact web version is a dumbed down version for a lot of customisable features and viewing options, I guess there is a reason for this and we're not going to be given a choice on this over time? -

Yeah, Just had the updated done on my computer and I had over 50 different emails categorized by time sensitivity. I can't even see the colors to know which was most important... why would they do this? It seems like such an easy programmable feature to allow for organizing.

Don't understand why they have removed this unless they have added a feature with similar functionality???!?

Categories worked fine on my old pc running Vista. New pc running windows 10 and office 365 categories not available. Microsoft helpline said the problem is my email account, which hasn't changed, must be set as POP3 or Microsoft exchange. I don't know how to do this?

Not fixing this problem after hearing over two years of complaints about it is pretty lame.

Please, PLESE fix the category feature in Office 365 or give us another option besides a flag. Flags are of very little help when working with thousands of messages.

You can do it. For example if you want to search for emails categorised to "Bob", in the search bar, type "category:Bob" and hit enter.

Filter by category is there in outlook 2016, Its its hidden under a drop down arrow on the top of your mailbox next to "newest" option and under "current mailbox"
Hope this helps

It is incredibly frustrating to sort emails into categories that I cannot sort by. It is also incredibly pointless. Gmail has this feature and it's wonderful. Without sorting capabilities, I will soon switch back

Yes agree! This is not useful feature if we can not sort by it

Just noted that Categories exists in O365 Outlook version but the possibility to use Sort, does not. How was this worked out from start? There is a possibility to "mark" an email with a special tag but then this "mark" is not possible to handle???? Extremely stupid!
Please add Categories asap in the Sort function. -

Hi, I agree! I follow the GTD (Gettings Things Done) procedure, Categorizing the inbox emails into cateogries: 0.Urgent, 1.medium, 2.low in folder pendant. It is important group and order by this category (or tags)

Yup. This is a problem. What good is it to put something in a category, if you cannot then find all the mail and other items that are in the category. Can't figure out how this got botched.
