Hide mobile number in contact info.
I log in. I am asked for a mobile number so I can verify account changes and reset my password. I find my mobile number listed on my contact card. I remove my mobile number. I log in. I am asked for a mobile number so I can verify account changes and reset my password. I find my mobile number listed on my contact card. I remove my mobile number. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
I want the semi-two-factor auth this provides, but the last thing I need is to have my entire company contacting me for support after hours or for vendors or clients, with access to our address book, contacting my cell... EVER.
I have seen numerous others on various forums asking for the same thing.

This is a real issue for our ORG. we use the mobile number for 2 factor and password resets but having the numbers published in the GAL is causing issues, with lawyers involved(harassment case) i would think in today's environment this would be i click box some where blocking from the GAL. We all need to use our phone for productivity but the 2000 people i work with don't need to know my number and I don't need to know theirs

Our company implemented using user's mobile phone number to password reset online Office365. However, due to privacy, user requested to hide their mobile phone from display in Outlook's contact or any contacts that associated with Microsoft App. Hope Microsoft could implement an options for Admin to hide user's Mobile Phone.
Yes there are two different fields in Azure but it is impossible to set StrongAuthenticationUserDetails.phonenumber with set-msoluser, you can only use get-msoluser to retrive the value. You may however set this value in the azure portal, then you wont see the phone number or private email adress anywhere else. So 4000 users that wants to have their private phone number for MFA will keep Service desk occupied , then make sure this is updated
I believe this is resolved now. Mobile phone and Authentication phone are two different fields in Active Directory when using office 365.

Is this issue not resolved? Mobile numbers are personal but required for MFA and SSPR. Is this even legal in Europe with GDPR?
I believe a better option is to allow the separation of the two factor mobile number from the business mobile. If an organization is paying for an employees cell phone, it should be available.
Any update available on this?

Any news to that? This is a really important privacy issue in europe.
Are you serious?! This was first posted June 2015 and it is STILL NOT AN OPTION?!
I have MANY USERS who are outraged at this privacy issue. They also do not want the entire company contacting them on their cell phones. There really needs to be an option to CHOOSE which contact information is shown, both in MS Teams and in the users' profile. You have had years to add a simple option, please make it so!
This shows that privacy is not one of Microsoft's priorities.
I agree - needs to be a way to keep it hidden. I am the site admin for our school but also teach Jr High. I really want to setup TEAMS for my classes but my cell number appears. Ugh!
i have got the same issue, i need to change one of the numbers on my contact card to my work mobile from my personal one, and all the students can see my personal mobile number its only a matter of time before the calls start

As the global admin for our tenant I have to add a valid mobile number, I once tried using a fake number to improve my privacy but then found I was missing support calls as that is the number they had been calling. I'm VERY concerned that now my real number is back in that field I am getting students and teachers calling my private number at all hours as the number cannot be hidden. I have other admins who are now using fake numbers and so missing support calls in order to protect their privacy. What is the value of this forcibly displayed number if the rest of our admins are entering a fake number to improve privacy?
Having your personal number visible is a security issue when you are part of an organization with more than 30,000 people/users. I do not want teachers and students calling my personal number. Please, please, please provide this options because it can become a security issue for the person with their mobile number visible to the public.
