Hide mobile number in contact info.
I log in. I am asked for a mobile number so I can verify account changes and reset my password. I find my mobile number listed on my contact card. I remove my mobile number. I log in. I am asked for a mobile number so I can verify account changes and reset my password. I find my mobile number listed on my contact card. I remove my mobile number. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
I want the semi-two-factor auth this provides, but the last thing I need is to have my entire company contacting me for support after hours or for vendors or clients, with access to our address book, contacting my cell... EVER.
I have seen numerous others on various forums asking for the same thing.

Unbelievable... This is a worm can that must closed ASAP... We ran an O365 Tenant with approximately 40 thousand active users in Europe, where GDPR is the real deal...
We must be able to hide personal mobile numbers by default... And we need 2FA...
This is as ridiculous as it gets...
Microsoft get your act together and put some Adult in charge of O365... Please !! -

Yeah, I cannot believe that such basic functionality like hiding phone number isn't available. Shame, Microsoft!

we must sync mobile number attribute and enable 2 FA
But its also internal policy to hide mobile number (since it is personal info ) -

We need to be able to safely hide these numbers from the GAL. This is a GDPR requirement!
We also need our mobile numbers for 2FA and other reasons, so deleting them from the system is not an option either. How can this massive oversight not have a fix?
The only practical fix goes against Microsoft best practices in deny permissions to view that AD object

We use teams to hold webinars for anonymous participants. Participants should not see the phone numbers of the presenters! Neither mobile nor office - because office might be actually their private number when permanently in home office!

I cannot implement 2 factors authentification because of GDPR forbiding me from displaing mobile numbers. I must delete the phone numbers

The phone number should not be visible on GAL in Outlook for all users, but the phone number should be available in AD and Office 365 backend

Our company implemented using user's mobile phone number to password reset online Office365. However, due to privacy, user requested to hide their mobile phone from display in Outlook's contact or any contacts that associated with Microsoft App. Hope Microsoft could implement an options for Admin to hide user's Mobile Phone

I'm facing the same problem. It's not permitted by GDPR, so please Microsoft, after 5 years create a solution!

Implementation and security of 2FA is being stunted and weakened by not being able to hide numbers.

phone numbers are displayed in the office 365 portal that we use in our business. In accordance with the law on the protection of personal data, telephone numbers must be hidden.

Having your personal number visible is a security issue when you are part of an organization with more than 10,000 people/users. I do not want teachers and students calling my personal number. Please, please, please provide this options because it can become a security issue for the person with their mobile number visible to the public.

This is surely needed for all schools, teachers an faculty can not and do not want their mobile numbers published to all students. Just an tic that hides personal info mobile and home address, phone would do, even though it would be better if i.e. teachers can see mobile numbers but students not, but that is maybe utopia.
This is even debatable if it is legal in countries adhering to GDPR, it has not been taken to court but probably will eventually unless prevented by an fix. -

This is a real issue for our ORG. we use the mobile number for 2 factor and password resets but having the numbers published in the GAL is causing issues, with lawyers involved(harassment case) i would think in today's environment this would be i click box some where blocking from the GAL. We all need to use our phone for productivity but the 2000 people i work with don't need to know my number and I don't need to know theirs
