Onedrive For Business Administration
Please allow greater administrative control over Onedrive for Business. Some things that would help are:
Allow admins the option to prevent creation of subsites.
Add reporting/auditing for site/subsite creation.
Add greater control of sharing. Currently for Onedrive we can only turn off external sharing for the entire tenant. It would be nice to have greater control over sharing. For instance, some users should be able to share externally while others can only share internally. Or possibly, create sharing policies where users can be restricted to only sharing with members of certain groups that are defined by admins.

"No, we’ve received this request before. Thanks for the feedback. OneDrive is built for collaboration and it’s a core part of the user experience and value proposition. Unfortunately, we have no plans to block sharing completely."

Is there any updates on this to disable internal sharing as well in organization using Onedrive?

We just found out today that our OneDrive users can create subsites on their OneDrives, completely negating our governance structure. Please allow us to turn this off!

Cannot agree more with this idea. We have been asking Microsoft for multiple years to replicate features that BOX already gives to administrators. Our request has always seemed relatively simple - Allow the administrator to create a folder for a user called "private" or something like that which the user CANNOT share out of. In order to share, the user would have to move the file to a folder that is shareable. This is so smart for legal/security/protection of sensitive data reasons.

Also voted for this. Even free open source solutions like Nextcloud / Owncloud give far more control over sharing settings than OneDrive does.

Voted for this, disabling internal sharing in OB4B is a must have for us to use it.

Take a look at what BOX is doing and do the same thing. For example, what happens when a user leaves the company? De-provisioning and creating retention holds are not enough. Simple WYSWIG prompts like BOX has is what is really needed. Prompt that say would you like to delte this users data or copy to manager's folder??? Little things like that.

The need for a central administrated, immutable folder in Onedrive for business, whose contents cannot be shared with anyone.

Added a vote to this, especially for better sharing controls - prevent users from sharing at all or restrict sharing to specific targets.

I agree, it would be great to be able to turn off this feature. Data in these sites found under OneDrive for Business are currently part of ODFB storage but in the future, they will become part of the SharePoint spooled storage for the company and could potentially throw tenants over their allotted spooled storage space and could be a huge problem.

You need to add administrator functionality for one drive for business. we need to be able to see when data is backed up and set compliance rules on the files. There is no simple view, even when we use the PowerShell commands
