Provide a proper SDK that doesn't require Office to be installed
Currently, the only way to work with office files in code is to leverage the COM interop assemblies after installation on a workstation.
This does not lend itself to any situation where server side processing of office documents is necessary.
An authentic and official first party office document rendering library is way overdue.
The library should be able to be installed from nuget (and other package managers of offered for other ecosystems). It should not require an installation of office and should be able to work cross platform.
The library should support all office functionality, namely rendering to PDF and visual diffs.
A third party library is not a valid alternative in this situation. Microsoft should be publishing free tools for people to work with office files in code.
