Enhancements to Office365 integration with Canvas LMS
The integration with Canvas LMS is now over 3 years old and is in need of further developments and improvements
Here are five considerations:
Ability to embed content directly from Office365 in the RCE
It is not possible to embed a document in Office365 directly into a page. This features is possible in the Google Integration and the lack of progress with this continues to be a huge source of frustration for many users particularly K12. Interaction with a resource is so important and the ability to add a document into an iframe and embed on a page would be tremendous.
Development of integration to include resources that you are sharing
The Office365 integration only works with individual OneDrive for Business accounts. This is great up until the point that a teacher leaves and it is not possible to access the accounts. Would it not be possible to create an integration based on shared ownership or on files stored in SharePoint?
Uploading any file
Currently the Office365 LTI only works with Office documents. How about extending this to pdf files, images and videos like OneDrive personal. It now seems to work well for Edge but how about for all browsers?
The URL assignment does not open the document in an iframe in Speedgrader. Instead, there is a rather clumsy link to go to to online Office document. Would it be possible to have the document opening up in Speedgrader? This is currently possible with the Google integration.
Use of stylus with Surface Pro in Canvas
This idea was put forward but only partly works and the quality of writing is poor - even for a Microsoft Stylus and Surface Pro. It would be great to be able to annotate work submitted to Canvas.
Could many of these issues be solved with a Teams integration? I don't know who else to get in touch with and would love to see further and more enhanced integration with Canvas.
Is there anything planned for the roadmap. Would be great if someone could get in touch!

Especially given proposed integration with Microsoft Teams. Having access to SharePoint files to use, share and embed would be a HUGE shift in the right direction.

Agreed- the ability to incorporate Google tools into Canvas is much easier, smoother, and a quicker jump in for teachers than the Microsoft tools. I believe this is an area where Microsoft could have a much stronger showing.

Google integration has progressed so much faster. Please consider how widespread Canvas is used and how important this integration is for districts trying to leverage Microsoft tools
