Disable the Backspace Archive Function in Office 2016
Our users are getting confused when the backspace key is pressed when viewing the Inbox
Emails get moved to the Archive folder and users are not aware what is happening.
We should be able to disable the backspace move to Archive
Ideally this should be turned off by default

This "feature" is pretty dangerous and should be removed or at least disabled by default and configurable.

At a minimum there should be a confirmation dialogue box triggered for this action. At least then you would be aware it was happening and not find out some time later that email has disappeared!

I would never want this behavior...

Using a context menu on a mail item is enough. Don't use the backspace button for archiving or at least let it configure using group policies.

An ever-increasing number of users at my customer using Outlook Full client are contacting their Helpdesk and complaining that emails have disappeared from their inbox. As a result, more and more users are dissatisfied with Outlook and have lost some faith that the cloud is a reliable repository for email with O365. Troubleshooting revealed that the users had actually moved the emails to the archive folder unintendedly and unbeknown to them. This behavior happened very quickly, and again unintentionally, a user has an email marked and then presses the backspace key. The net result is that the email is moved, without additional visual feedback, to the ARCHIVE folder. When the user attempts to find the email, it is no longer to be found where the user expects them to be located. The impression is that emails are “disappearing”.

For as long as I can remember, Backspace has taken you to the previous folder in Outlook, in the same way as it has in Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer (previous page). Now in Outlook 2016, Backspace is all of a sudden archiving mails, and that is not really helpful. I've googled this, but I haven't found any fix. Do you know how to fix this, so that Backspace once again takes me to the previous folder?
