Allow tracked changes to show in Word Online
I'm a teacher and we use Office365 at our school. I use the desktop version of Word a lot but my students prefer the online version. When I comment their writing I can't use "track changes" because they won't show in Word Online... Only comments show. Why? Please allow Track Changes to show online!

Track changes functionality is needed for our legal document approval process. Track changes Office online needs to be equivalent to the desktop Word track changes.

Apparently this is now available.

Please show full track changes in Word Online!!! We have lawyers who write content for one of our documents and we need to be careful not to overwrite their language. If we can't see who made which changes, we can't guarantee we won't overwrite them. Some of our users only have licensing for online versions so we need this functionality.

UPDATE: just found the Word-specific uservoice request for the same issue here:
https://word.uservoice.com/forums/271331-word-for-the-web/suggestions/7309773-add-track-changes-to-word-onlineI am an 'First Release' user in my tenant and 2 weeks ago I stumbled across Track Changes functionality in the Review ribbon in Word Online while editing a doc with a coworker! And it worked as expected (color changes, strikethroughs, named edits, etc.)! I was thrilled! It wasn't available for any non-First Release users, but that was fine.
Now, however, it's gone. I wish I'd taken a screenshot to prove my sanity, but I checked and our sysadmin hasn't changed any O365 settings. Anyone else experience this?

Google Docs allows different edit modes including one similar to MS Word's Track Changes function called "Suggestions."
In Suggestion mode, anyone who makes an edit in the Google Doc is making a suggested edit, similar to the Track Changes function in Word. (In Edit mode, the file is edited as you'd expect.) This function makes collaborating on files very smooth and easy to navigate, and Word for web fails to incorporate this.
Please implement a Track Changes / Suggested Edits function in Word for web.

Turn this feature on, already. And allow us to track who is contributing what in version history. The lack of this really straightforward function obliterates the ability to use this tool in education for functional communities and to give credit to contributing students. I'm about to suggest killing the 365 integration in our LMS and transitioning to Google apps for edu.

is there an ETA for track changes functionality in word online?

Need to view edits by members of my team. Why was this basic functionality removed?

It makes group efforts on editing almost impossible if you have some users on the desktop version and some using the online version. It's such an important feature.

As a researcher I need to view edits by co-authors. The track changes feature is definitely needed on Word Online.

Word Online urgently needs track changes - a major reason to use Word Online is for collaboration, and tracking changes made by different people is mission critical.

I cannot agree more! Please allow Track Changes to show in Teams, uploading documents to Teams without Track Changes is meaningless.

Not having track changes defeats the purpose of a collaboration space. Office 365 is therefore not fit for purpose without it!

I work for a large healthcare organization in a community of policy writers. We maintain upwards of 50,000 policy documents. The track changes feature of Word is an important tool to enable efficient drafting and review of policy documents. The absence of this functionality is a barrier to adopting the Word online application. I hope that Microsoft can resolve this deficiency as soon as possible.

As companies and the software solutions that they rely upon move towards Office Online, I'm surprised to see this large gap with a Microsoft product. Tracking changes is a basic requirement for our company's 300k users and it has been for many years. I hope that Microsoft still allows customer feedback to influence their design and fixes this soon.

I'm at a large government agency and our users make extensive use of track-changes. They have been very frustrated that they are unable to see track-changes in the web portal apps. It diminishes the 'any device anywhere access' benefit if such a significant features is so limited.

Please also allow us to turn track changes off in Word online. When a file is uploaded to Word online with Track Changes on, there is no way to turn it off in Word online. The file has to be reopened in Word offline, then Track Changes has to be turned off, and then it must be re-uploaded to Word online. This is frustrating.

if you are sharing with people with their own O365 environment, sometimes the only view they can have is online. this should have been a feature long ago

Not having this feature is really impeding our editorial staff's workflow.
