Let us use the TAB key in Word Online
This is a pretty basic feature request: let us tab to do basic formatting in Word Online documents. Using a table isn't efficient when only one or two rows of separate, organized text are needed. This is a basic feature (it was a typewriter feature-so its been around for a while).
The bigger request is to bring the editors in the Office Online applications up to par with their competitors. For example, Google and Apple support liberal tab use.

This needs adding. The tab is a key way to tidy up formatting, layout of documents

The TAB key was introduced on typewriters roughly 120 years ago. It would seem that Microsoft has unilaterally decided it's no longer a necessary feature. This fits nicely in our post-literacy society, but it is frustrating.

I always think of Microsoft Word as the "real" word processing application. This is no more. That this has been going on for so long tells me that there is no value here any more. I can't believe they would even launch such a sloppy product.

I cannot believe there is no tab function in the online version of Word. This is one of the most basic word processing tools.

For real? A word processor that can't use tabs?

Put the Tab back.. good grief, what a pain! I was excited to move to Office 365.. was is the keyword.. so much for flexibility.

Only 171 votes for TAB? +1. I have yet to find a solid comprehensive collaboration platform, and it's almost 2020. Having list heading that don't scroll off the page would be nice. I'm playing around trying to discover all the holes in SharePoint before having my team start using this platform. Can't take anything for granted.

I was amazed and disappointed to discover that this simple functionality is not available in Word Online.
Get it implemented ! -

I was thrilled that we got Office 365 to work with our box content management. But the product is not a functional word processor missing so many basic functions.

100% agreed, the lack of it causes a lot of discomfort and ugly looking documents.

Ah yes - yet another basic feature of the Office Suite that is not supported in the online version. Another half baked release by Microsoft.

Totally agree with this feature request, not only for O365 Word, but all O365 products (e.g. Powerpoint as well). I have to download the O365 application and use a license just to have needed features like the Tab key. Very frustrating Microsoft. If there's a licensing issue or other reason, it's significant enough that your Team work out legal licensing or whatever blockers exist to provide this ability, and if it's technical only, get your UX or UI Teams to prioritize the development of this needed feature.

It is ridiculous that this hasn't already been solved for. Two years of requests and I guarantee you there isn't more of them because people just give up and use their desktop app. I can't keep recommending to use Word Online if it can't be used for simple formatting that tabbing provides. It doesn't even display the document correctly when I eventually . Crazy!

And people have been asking for this for TWO YEARS. Some customer support. How pathetic.

Tabs are not visible in Word Online. And I cannot add tabs in Word Online. Can it really be that a word processor does not recognize tabs????? Makes Word Online pretty much useless except as a notepad. Cannot even view files written offline correctly. Disgusting.

I can't believe this isn't supported yet. This is a basic feature of a typewriter! Come on!
