Allow users to edit their personal info
Under Office 365 settings > Personal info, only admins can change their own details.
I understand this is restricted to prevent abuse. However, organizations should be given the freedom to choose whether or not to lift this restriction. I suggest an additional option/rule under Exchange's user roles.
Please also add the field "Title" to the Personal info section if it's not the currently displayed "Occupation".

Allowing the users to edit their personal info would help admins make changes that would be very easy to modify for each user. Also, there isn't a way to massively update this information in office 365 cloud version, at least that I know of.

users should be able to edit their profile also from https://myaccount.microsoft.com/?ref=MeControl page

With the flood of people starting to use Teams, I would have thought this would be addressed. How can I get people to embrace the 365 Cloud experience if they can't even update their own information?

I have had to create a landing page in sharepoint for my users and have set up a button for that link. My users get confused if I start giving them random urls to achieve what should be a simple thing. I have set up Microsoft 365 for a club and the average age of the committee is about 70 so it really does need to be something easy for them to do from their owa! So far three of them have come back and want to know why they cannot simply do it from their Profile section as they know that from personal email.
It really does feel like Microsoft are making things so difficult to do in a real world setting.

I want to prevent most of my details from being visible for PII reasons as I am in a sensitive business area.

You need to go into user roles in the EAC, create a new rule and checking the boxes in MyContactInformation, MyProfileInformation and the stuff that was enabled in the default user role (if you want to keep it that way). Then the user can change the info unter outlook.office365.com/ecp (ther profile will launch then.
Though important notice: Officially it isn't implemented, so it may not work for everyone

Com'n MS team. Keep offering the flexibility for us to turn on/off features. That is what you do best. Please give us this ability. Heck, even the setup screens in EXCHANGE are sitting there. Seems strange to actually check the box in setup and not have it work? Under the DEFUALT ROLE ASSIGNMENT POLICY.

Please change this ASAP, this is a simple but effective way to find info on our team and we can't even edit/post it with your current system

I do understand the need to secure as much as possible, but there are organizations that do trust eachother - so why not allow them to edit the own data

Thanks for the tip Jakub! Have the users go to https://outlook.office365.com/ecp then at the bottom there's a link to edit information.

Hopefully this will this feature will be released in year 5 after being posted. At least give admins the option to set what users are able to update. With the current situation with just about every users working remotely it would nice to allow them to be able to at least update their phone to contact them instead of having admins spending time doing this.

This would be obviously nice to have. Kind of crazy that it isn't currently available.

I have checked all the boxes available under user roles in ecp, but this feature isn't available.
Please make it available. This has been ongoing since 2016, can you please make this happen.
An IT admin represents the organization so 72 comments * 2000 users on an average that's a lot. please consider it Microsoft.
Thank you! -

@Mirko -- You can accomplish this by establishing SSPR (Self-service password reset). Basically, you create a security group, assign this group permission to conduct SSPR and add said users/students to this group. Once done, forward along the URL to each so they can update their contact information (i.e., secondary phone and email address) and, should they ever need to reset their password, they get this option (visible link at the point of sign-in) and the ability to update their information, as needed. It works flawlessly...did this a few years ago and have never looked back. It's a shame this isn't something that is automagically enabled from the get go (unlike other useless options/features someone in the all mighty Microsoft Empire thinks small business needs). Good luck!

Is there any opportunity, how to change this using PowerShell? Is it restricted only by missing interface? Thank You for hints!

Hello,
I am the admin of our school and i guess i need the option to allow students to chance their alternative e-mail-adress. cause if a student fortget the password he can get the mail there to get it or change it. -

An admin option to allow or disallow this just makes sense.
