Publish Links to Office Client Applications for Office 2013/2016
Publish Links to Office Client Applications for Office 2013/2016.
It would be a huge usability improvement, if published links at 'Sharepoint Online Admin / User Profiles / My Sites / Publish Links to Office Client Applications' would work with Office 2013/2016. Looks like it's currently working only with Office2010.

This seems like a major problem for larger companies with multiple team sites. Users can not see all of their team sites and have to type obscure paths every time they want to save to sharepoint!

I had no idea this would be functionality that would be REMOVED from Office 2016. My users testing Office 2016 were using already created links. Only now, since we're in a limited rollout to end users, have we discovered that this completely BASIC functionality is gone.
Great, so now my users are going back to file shares or USB thumb drives. This is good for corporate document management...HOW again?
Microsoft, if you want to be a Document Management solution with SharePoint, DON'T break the links between your Office products and DM system!

How on earth is it possible that this hasn't been responded to, let alone attended to, by Microsoft?
Surely I am misunderstanding, surely something has been done in the last two years since this was raised as an issue?
I'm very surprised that this function has been removed in Office 2013/16. The Connect to Office feature was essential in driving user adoption of SharePoint document libraries; without this feature the process to save to SharePoint from client applications is difficult and cumbersomely for end-users.
Several end-users here are now complaining and reverting to traditional file shares (or worse - local) as it is easier for them. It is effectively negating several of the key benefits of SharePoint for Document storage and sharing!
Being able to save directly into libraries is a no brainer!
Same for us. We will start to rollout Office 2016 next month. Unfortunately I have not found a way to upload new created office files on an easy way to SharePoint 2013. (Office and SharePoint On-Prem!)
Office & SharePoint team... please think about it, together!

I am baffled beyond words as to why this functionality is not available in the Office 2013/2016 applications. We need an easy way to provide links to 100s of users so they can easily navigate to the correct team site or document library.
Same here. I can't find anywhere why the functionality was removed and support was unable to answer that? The links to create them are there in the Admin interface and at the site library level but don't work. Is this this functionality that is coming soon?
